As we grow up, we learn that even the one person that wasn’t supposed to ever let you down probably will. You will have your heart broken probably more than once and it’s harder every time. You’ll break hearts too, so remember how it felt when yours was broken. You’ll fight with your best friend. You’ll blame a new love for things an old one did. You’ll cry because time is passing too fast, and you’ll eventually lose someone you love. So take too many pictures, laugh too much, and love like you’ve never been hurt because every sixty seconds you spend upset is a minute of happiness you’ll never get back.

Confessions of a Welfare Recipient

by Winning Progressive

Thanks Walter for sharing this one. This man makes some VERY interesting and true points about welfare in the United States – definitely worth the read!!

“Yeah that’s right. I admit it. I have enjoyed a good life and fattened my bank account at the expense of taxpayers. I hire chauffeur driven limousines and fly luxury first class. I book a suite at a five-star hotel and wine and dine on the finest cuisine. I do it because it’s all a tax write-off; the government’s contribution to my wellbeing.”

Movie Review: The Devil’s Curse

Netflix Synopsis:

2008 R 88 minutes

Several theological students summon a hellish demon in an experiment to test their own faith -- and end up paying a severe price in the process. Ten years later, the curse lives on as five students move into the abandoned residence hall of the Catholic school. But what was supposed to be a larkish weekend stay turns deadly when the kids realize they are not alone. Toni Harman directs this supernatural horror-thriller set in London.

Meagan’s Rating: 5 Stars

Although the genre of this movie was a little misleading, because it is not really what I would classify as a "horror" movie, it was a brilliant and thought provoking plot. This is one of those movies that stays hidden from mainstream society because it is misunderstood. It reminded me of The Celestine Prophecy - which also questioned human perception and the "reality" of life. It is the human experience that we see the sun rise in the East and set in the West, but is that the reality of what happens? No! For the Earth is simply revolving on it's axis, the sun is (relatively) stationary, and this is how it has happened for hundreds of thousands of years - and yet what do you see? It is this question of perception, specifically the perception of evil, and it's power to manipulate our human reality that this movie ponders, and you miss the point if you do not ponder it yourself.

Movie Review: Karla

Netfiix Synopsis:

2006 R 101 minutes

Director Joel Bender's disquieting psychological drama stars Misha Collins as Paul Bernardo and Laura Prepon as Karla Homolka, a notorious husband-and-wife team who abducts, sexually abuses and kills three young women. Unfolding from Karla's point of view, the film -- based on a true story -- explores whether she was a willing accomplice to the crimes or merely a victim of Paul's influence. The supporting cast includes Tess Harper.

Meagan’s Rating: 4 Stars

I want to start off by saying that I do not know much about the Real Life story of this couple. But I thought this movie was both intriguing and disturbing. Karla was obviously a psychologically disturbed character even before meeting Paul. But his psychopathic tendencies pushed her to new fronts. I would have liked to see more of her childhood, her home life, and what experiences she was exposed to to lead her to this lifestyle. Although I don't think she was completely innocent in the events that took place, I think the cycle of abuse of a domestic partner and the mindset that kind of treatment puts someone in was missed. She was a victim of domestic abuse in the most horrific of senses, and I found sympathy for her character, because sometimes humans placed in traumatic situations honestly feel as if they have no choice. I would recommend this movie to anyone who likes true crime movies, as it was both interesting to watch and gave complicated characters who were not all smut and gore. This movie is not for the faint of heart though, and if you are easily disturbed by sexuality, sexual assault, or domestic violence this may not be the movie for you.

My New Theme Song

I won't be bored
I won't be ignored
Hey!
I won't be your dirty secret
I won't be your cure-all pill
And I won't run to fetch the water
Just to tumble down the hill
I won't be your Friday paycheck
I won't be the prize you flaunt
And I won't be your Martha Stewart, baby
Or your all-night restaurant
Chorus
But I will, I will, I will be your everything
If you make me feel like a woman should
I will, I will, I will be the whole shebang
You know I will...but
I won't be your clutch to lean on
I won't wear stiletto heels
I won't walk a mile in your shoes
Just so I know how it feels
I won't be your obligation
I won't be your Barbie doll
I won't be the portrait of perfection
To adorn your wall
(Repeat Chorus)
Bridge
Hey- you know, you know I will
All right
I won't be your lifetime girlfriend
I won't be just one of the guys
I won't be your mama's favorite
I refuse to be the last in line
(Repeat Chorus)
Yeah, I will, I will, I will be your everything
I will, I will be the whole shebang
I will, I will be your everything
I will, I will, I will, I will- yeah
You know I will
You know, you know I will
You know I will
You know, you know I will- yeah

Movie Review: Death of a Ghost Hunter

Netflix Synopsis:

2007 NR 104 minutes

Twenty years after minister Joseph Masterson and his family were slaughtered inside their home, noted ghost hunter Carter Simms (Patti Tindall) is offered $5,000 to investigate the residual paranormal activity in the house -- with shocking results. Director Sean Tretta's spine-tingling low-budget flick was an official selection at the Phoenix Film Festival and took home the Best Screenplay prize from the 2007 New York City Horror Film Festival.

Meagan’s  Rating: 4 starts

For a low budget film this movie exudes great plot, well developed characters, and twists and turns that keep you watching till the end. Its a great movie for people interested in Paranormal Investigation, informative and educational about the different methods and means used to detect a ghost. The only complaint I could issue was the audio, some scenes grated on the nerves a little due to the sound effects - but then again, maybe that was the intention of the filmmaker. Overall, I would say its a must see for the Supernatural movie buffs!
